St. Joseph County Auditor's Office provided the following tax payment information. We are thankful for their help. The reason SBCSC refuses to let us leave is because we support them.
We pay for 40% of every building and bus in the SBCSC. They are so grateful they are closing down the township schools and forcing 1/3 of the kids in the SBCSC district to travel long distances to school.
They think township kids will travel all the way to town to go to their failing schools in dangerous neighborhoods. Why travel to a failing school when you can travel to a good school? They refuse to understand this.
Also, SBCSC has already announced that when these referendums expire, SBCSC will need a larger one. They are not "right-sizing" but digging a deeper hole. Once Clay High School is bulldozed, it will be much harder to leave SBCSC. We must act now! Our taxes will be higher!
The record of the tax payments comes from the ST. Joe County Auditor's Office. Why are we paying over 40% of the bills from property taxes yet Clay Schools are in disrepair?
The Indiana Laws that combined Clay Township Schools has a procedure for splitting apart as well. We do not need to tolerate this.
